Beginning Sewing: Channel Stitched Pillow

Two sessions offered:

March 28 – April 25, 2019 (5 weeks) Thursday 6:30 – 8:30 pm

Channel stitching is a great technique for adding visual and textural interest to pillows. In this beginner class, you will learn how to construct a pillow and use interfacing to give it structure and a professional finish. You will use a walking foot – one of the most versatile of all sewing machine feet – to customize your pillow with channel stitching. You will also learn the basics of operating a sewing machine and develop fundamental sewing skills necessary for progressing to more advanced projects. No prior sewing experience is necessary. We will be using Sertoma’s sewing machines.  A supply fee of $10 is paid to instructor at first class. Supply list available on Sertoma’s webpage.

The Sertoma Arts Center

sertomaexteriorI am excited to have moved from teaching out of my home studio to the Sertoma Arts Center of Raleigh.  Located at 1400 West Millbrook Road, Raleigh NC in the heart of Shelley Lake Park, the Sertoma Arts Center is a fun, creative destination, offering classes and workshops in fiber arts, painting, drawing, photography, pottery, performing arts and more, along with exhibitions, studio spaces, group support and community outreach.   It is an excellent facility for sewing classes, offering nice classrooms in the middle of a beautifully wooded park, while being conveniently located for residents of Raleigh and the surrounding areas.
